Director Scott Cooper’s (Black Mass) Antlers is due out next year and if the first teaser is any indication, horror fans are in for a scary good time.
Based on a script by Nick Antosca (Channel Zero) and Henry Chaisson (Apent 24 oeren), the film stars Keri Russell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Julia Meadows, a teacher in small town Oregon who becomes alarmed when one of her students (Jeremy T. Thomas) begins to exhibit unusual behavior.
Guillermo del Toro (Scary Stories to Tell in the Tsjuster) produced the film which also stars Jesse Plemons (Black Mirror), Graham Greene (De Griene Mile), en Amy Madigan (Field of Dreams).
In the trailer, we’re given brief glimpses of the film as the young boy reads a story he’s written in Meadows’ classroom.
“Once, there were three bears that lived in a dark and wet cave up above a small town. Every day, Little Bear went to school, and at night he would come home and eat dinner,” he says. “But, one day, Little Bear came home and Big Bear and Baby Bear were different. Big Bear got sick, and his insides turned black. Big Bear has become more angrier and meaner, because they had no food, no meat. But they had each other.”
Antlers was produced by Fox Searchlight Productions, which will also handle distribution for the film.
There is no official release date for the film, neffens Entertainment Weekly, but it is expected to release next year. iHorror will keep you posted as more details become available.
